HIGH SCHOOL HONOR CHOIR APPLICATION
Forty auditioned high school students will be selected for the 2018 Ad Astra High School Honor Choir. In addition to rehearsals and a culminating performance, the three-day program includes cross-discipline workshops delving into the contexts of the music being performed. This immersive approach to learning music makes this honor choir unique. In 2018, the honor choir will sing movements from the Brahms Requiem alongside the festival's chamber choir, world-class pianists, and wonderful New York-based soloists in the opening concert of the festival. This year's primary clinician is Corie Brown, a conductor who is finishing her doctorate at the University of Colorado Boulder and has taught in rural Michigan, Chicago Public Schools, and as part of Fundación Batuta in Colombia. The dates are July 11, 12, and 13 with the performance the evening of the July 13th. Daily transportation is provided to and from Salina and Hays.
