Ad Astra Music Festival

Est. 2014 in Russell, Kansas

Forty auditioned high school students will be selected for the 2019 Ad Astra High School Honor Choir. In addition to rehearsals and a culminating performance, the three-day program includes cross-discipline workshops delving into the contexts of the music being performed. This immersive approach to learning music makes this honor choir unique. This year's primary clinician is Dr. Corie Brown, a conductor who finished her doctorate at the University of Colorado Boulder in April and has taught in rural Michigan, Chicago Public Schools, and as part of Fundación Batuta in Colombia. The dates are July 10, 11, and 12 with the performance the evening of July 12. Daily transportation is provided to and from Salina and Hays.

Application Deadline: July 9, 2019
